The leader behind Drummer Boy Club is a well recognized name in Atlantic Canada under the ACPBA, Austin Trenholm.
He first began taking lessons when he was 8 years old. After taking lessons for a few years, he was promoted to join the grade 5 College of Piping pipe band in 2012, to start competing in the summer of 2013.
Ever since he competed in drumming solos in the summer of 2013, he was a force to be reckoned with, winning the ACPBA Overall Campion Supreme award while never losing a single solos contest in the Atlantic Canadian circle, while placing 6th at the North American Pipe Band Championships in solos that year. He then won the Overall Campion Supreme award in grade 4 while again never losing a single contest in the Atlantic Canadian circle. He won the Overall Campion Supreme award in grade 3 the next two summers, then won the award in the grade 2 category the following two summers. After not competing for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he won the award again in the grade 1 category.
Some of the highlights in his drumming career so far include winning at the World Championships in 2017 while being the lead drummer of the College of Piping grade 4 band at 16 years of age, at the 2019 North American Pipe Band Championships, getting 3rd place for his M/S/R and 4th place for his Hp/J in the grade 2 category, while also playing part in the winning drum corps in the grade 3 category in the same competition. Another highlight is that every year he has competed, he won the ACPBA Overall Champion Supreme award, as mentioned above.
